We want to repaint the hood on our C Case. The hood has decals for the name. I ordered a complete set of replacement decals and hood decals are not included!

I have looked at several pictures of Cases and on a few the name is the color of the hood. Others are painted Red, another has White with a Green outline.

Does anyone know what is correct?

Thanks, Dave Olson East-Central Illinois

Ok I dug this out for you to look at. I think it was white on dark red maybe.

I don't know so much about the C as the L. but...on the L for 1930 the hood decal was silver letters on a red background which I got from Wacker. There was a white and a red stripe along the lower edge of the hood. This all changed just as soon as they began to use the embossed "CASE" in the sides of the hood. There were no "old Abes" on the sides of the gas tank until later either. I think this was pretty much the same for both the L and the C for those early years. Go carefully through some of the books of old Case photographs. Not restored tractors, as they are often wrong, but pictures with dates of when they were taken as you'll find in some of the "Case" history books.

Thanks Steve,

I looked at the Wacker web site and it looks like they have the Decals that are on the hood of my C. I will measure them tomorrow.

If you are in the Mid-West this summer, my club I & I Antique Tractor & Engine Club is featuring the J I Case National Show this year.

Dave, it depends on the model year of your Case. On the earliest ones, the hood sides were unembossed and there were decals. Later on the hood sides were embossed and the raised letters were painted white. On some others there were the various stripes, etc. First question - what year is it?

It is a 1930.

I've had it for about 5 years. It looks much like it did when I got it.

The fellow that restored it painted the wheels black rather than Red. His grandson said thats the way he like it!

The CC in this picture is also the incorrect color. Someone painted it RC Gray rather that the CC Gray.

Dave

Good question!

Besides the red and white lettering, I have also seen silver lettering and one with silver lettering with a red shadow. I still do not know which is correct. I am waiting on someone to give the definitive answer. I would like to get my 36 C and 38 L right.
