I have a 58 B-311 with 146 engine. Took carburator off and found no marking on the butterfly as same say might be. Found only on back side.. letters SK #687. First does this mean anything to anyone?
Second.. I did get a carb kit for it from auto parts store. But it contains no paper work other then a note says.. 2 needles..make sure which one is your size before installing. Also there is the little measurment stick to check or set the Floats. However , There is nothing to tell me what that measurement might be to read on stick. Any help... Kit was put out by , Walker Innovative Engine Management Solutions, #778-505

Larry, The factory carb for the 311B can be either a Marvel Schebler or a Zenith. Your post appears to be for a MS so will go with that.

The 311B MS carb was TSX 635 or TSX 680 so polish up the tag some and check it again, could also be stamped with the month & year on the same tag. If it really is a TSX 687, I wouldn't get too excited about it, carbs get substituted all the time and seem to work fine.

What they mean on the needles is pick the one that has the same degree angle so it will match your carb seat.

To set the float, put the gasket in place, mount the float, rest the carb top casting upside down. Now the float has the needle valve seated, measure the distance from the gasket to the nearest bottom edge of the float. Most MS cabs are 1/4", bend the float levers for adjustment. Keep both sides of the float parallel with the gasket and at the same height.

This is a TSX 635, stamped build date 2-57. Is mounted on my '56 model 310.
