The steering wheel in your pix is for model year 1958, same wheel as on the 56 & 57 roundnose 300.

1959 wheel is spline bore like the one at the link.

You posted s/n 6098674 below, that is 1958 model year. 1959 starting serial nr is 6120001. Joe

Production of the 300 round nose ended 30 Sep 57.

Production of 300B started 1 Oct 57 and ended 30 Sep 59. That is model years 1958 & 1959.

Case model year in that era started at the beginning of the 4th quarter and ended at the end of the 3rd quarter. Model year is not the same as calendar year.

If you bought a new 2008 car last Aug, would you say it was a 2007 just because it was built and sold in 2007?

I don't know whether your serial nr is original to that tractor or not but it is for a model year 1958 number series "B" tractor not 1959.

Joe

Sorry Larry, I don't have production nrs.

Did you check your engine serial nr & block casting nr? If you're going to buy engine parts for a 148 cid engine online you need the engine serial nr, otherwise you may end up with the 148B engine parts.

Joe

I have fixed a lot of them with JB Weld. Mix it up fill in the cracks, lightly sand, and spray paint.

JB weld... then sand down the cracks and paint it.... sounds interesting. Did know if that JB would stick and hold.

We had a 57 round nose 300 when I was a kid , Wished i still had it..... ..... Looks like You own a early run 58 model with a square nose , using old run 56 , 57 dash with a sheetmetal factory miracle to make it work ,. Have You ever looked at single headlite 57 v double headlite 58 Mercurys and Desoto ect.of that era ?

That is what we had, but it didn't work. You won't like to price to get that refurbished if it goes bad. What are you talking about, that steering wheel is in good shape compared to the ones I have fixed in the past.

Well I think I will give your plan of action on wheel a try as soon as we get better weather. Are you expecting much of this snow coming? Where I am at is 4 to 6 inches they say bye friday. Seen a man on here that fixs dashs like this. But cost to get is like 550.00 and I don't have that much laying around right now. Might later!

Got mine like this from Roger Hornbaker. Paid a lot less than that a year or so ago with my old one in exchange, but he could have gone up. If the guy you saw was not Roger, his email address is: rogershornbaker@ yahoo.com Think his handle on YT is rustyknuckles or something like that. He's a real nice guy, but these old dashes are hard to get parts for and very time consuming work in defense of the amount you saw. This is a Stewart Warner dash and the individual gauges may still be available from Case but I can bet you will pay them more than $550 for all new gauges since it looks like that may be what you need if you try to do-it-yourself. The old Abe emblem in the center of the main panel is going to be the hard part.

Interesting.. did not know that was called that.
Right now I can not afford to buy a 550 dash from the man. But I am sure they are worth it. Perhaps later if things stop happening around me that is costing me money every time I turn around. Thank

Checked book .. shows they can make a custom wheel but only for a keyway wheel setup. I am not sure but this wheel might be a splin fit and not the keyway. DO you know which it is.

Larry only way for me to tell which type steering wheel it has is to pull the nut holding it on off and look. It could be either one. As far as the weather thats why I drive what I drive and the 4 wheel drive works well plus the pair of winches on back do also if I do get stuck. My speed o went out today which I don't like but I wasn't going to crawl under it today to fix that, just to cold to lay on the ground and do that job

Plus I travel 54 to 63 and up that way instead of 5 up and then over on 70 so I don't get near you either LOL. Plus I also have to stop a crown power and equipment to pick up a valve cover gasket for this B I'm working on, and then fix a front time and do that gasket and I'm done
