Just curious if a 47 VAO would be a somewhat rare tractor? I have the chance to get one but it needs a lot of work. I mean a lot, but it does have the orchard fenders, although pretty rough, that could be used as patterns. Just trying to figure if it would be worth the efforts, not necessarily the costs.

1817 is the total # of 1947 VAOs. Far and away most did NOT have all the extra orchard tin and of the ones that did, most lost thier tinwork over the years so I'd say its pretty rare! My '48 VAO gets a lot of attention at shows. It was a rough ole dog when I got it but was well worth the effort. I had to make everything from a picture in the owners manual as the only tin left was the huge orchard fenders. I wish I would have had a pattern to go by but am very pleased with it. The VAOs without the optional tinwork look like a regular farm tractor and won't draw much attention. Good Luck!

Our VAO had the big orchard fenders, but none of the other tin. It must be because all the orchard growers around here wer too cheap to order it, as none of the DO's had full tin either. Boy that gas pedal was great for an 8 year old kid! Don

1847 were made so its not real rare but hard to find a lot of the sheet metal for these was removed and lost so I would try to save it if its at all possible.
Walt

PS My Uncle Walter had a 1948 I think it was VAO but not sure. Boy I wish i had it the last time I saw it was right before he died and it was still in great running shape with all the sheet metal.

I grew up driving a 1947 VAO and 1952 D. Known as the "little" CAse and "big" Case. The VAO is not rare enough to be worth much more than regular tractors, but it sure draws a crowd at tractor shows. Don
