Are the parts in the power shift of the yellow 1070 tractors interchangeable with the later white tractors? Are the whole units the same?

NO. The RPS unit bolts in from the back on the yellow tractors (accessable through the top where the valve body sets) and the front (towards engine) on the white tractors. The seals are different and I think the clutch pack bolts are larger on the newer ones as well. Mel should be able to help further.

I have been told the same thing from our local Case mechanic. He did make the comment if you ever have to work in the clutch pack to get the machine shop work done to upgrade to the bigger bolts and pack. DOUG

Triplerange , you sell your self short. all you said was right on the money. The transmission serial number denoted which changes were in the power shift at different times during the tractors production. I always up date the pistons to the later style on a rebuild. The larger bolts did not come along till after the 90 series i think, I just did one that had been changed to 7/16 at some point.

Thanks for your replies. I have a yellow 1070 that is ok for now. I have an opertunity to buy a complete 1977 trans from the engine to the pto that has a cracked rear end which was in an accident and had been rebuilt only hours before the mishap. So if I get the whole thing I will be ok. Thanks
