Hello,

I have a 970 agri-king with the power shift tranny. In the spring of 07 we noticed that if you made a sharp turn the tractor would slow down. Not it has goten so bad that if you turn the wheel at all the tractor will just plain stop. It works better at high RPMs but still not right.

I have tried changing the filters, flushing the fluids, and blowing out the coolant lines The pump and clutches were just rebuilt spring of 06.

Anyone ever heard of this problem? I'm about out of ideas. Please give me some things to try, any help would be great!

Thank you
Bob

Thanks a lot guys! I will try and check those things over the weekend and see if I come up with any results.

Hope to get this thing workin before spring or I will have some major issues.

Thanks Again
Bob

I have a 1070 that did that same thing a couple of years ago, if you turned while the tractor was at a low rpm, it would stop and start abruptly. Turned out that the hyd. pump was shot that bolts onto the rear end. Replaced this with a reman. pump from CaseIH and this brought the tractor back to perfect operation at any rpm. P.S. Those pumps aren't cheap, though!

This is from an old book I have. PROBLEM: Tractor will stop moving when steering goes against relief prior to S/N 8675001, and start to move again when steering comes off of relief. 1. Steering pump section wore out. 2. Lube pressure regulator spring is weak. 3. Steering return cold oil relief valve inoperative. 4. After the RPS valve has been disassembled, cleaned and reassembled, it is possible that the steering return pressure regulator spool was put in backwards. (tractors after SN 867001 would have high range only with this problem).
