I've just got my engine back togather and now she wont fire. This tractor had sat for awhile, long enough for the rings to freeze.Ive bleed the system by pressurizing the tanks and got fuel coming out of all 3 filters and fuel come back though the return.nothing at all coming from the injector side.I've cranked it quite a bit and ate up thr starter in the process.I primed many a diesel, should of taken by now.any ideas?what next? This is a bosch inline pump.all help is most apreciated.
thanks y'all

Took off that cap and sure enough the rack is froze. It extends into the cap though. How long would it take to pull the pump for easier access to the cover on the back side.worth it?
thanks for all the replies

bio, put the throttle in wide open position and gently tap on the rack end, if you can pull it try that. wide open throttle should put spring pressure on the rack toward wide open position. If you must remove the pump be sure to bring the timing marks into register before removing it.

830d,sat a loonngg time...bled everything just as you have, wouldnt fire, took cover off backside of pump, got a mirror to see if pump plungers moved up and down while cranking...guess what..plungers were stuck! Soaked& pried,(gently)&fiddled till i got them to move freely when cranking engine, bled injector lines while cranking and she fired right up! good luck!

Thanks for the tips,I'll try the rack and then the cover on the back thats most likely the culprit.I've done everyhing else.

Had a 930 that sat for a long period of time that wouldn"t fire by cranking with the starter. I opened up the injection lines to help but still no fuel came out. We ended up pulling it to increase to speed of the engine over cranking which got the lines shoot fuel and after closing the lines managed to get it to start.

If yours has at handle on top of fuel filter make sure it is shut.If you have fuel coming back in tank fromreturn you might need to remove cap in front of pump an with clean fingers see if rack moves .It will have a phylips head screw on end. Just see if it will move. Be eextremely clean .

Mike - I know this sounds silly, but do you have the throttle half way open? I made that mistake when priming my 700 for a little while - had fuel through the filters, but nothing from the pump to the engine because I had the throttle in the "shut off" position.

It could be that the rack is gummed up and stuck in the shutoff position, remove the cap on the end of the pump toward the fan and see if the rack is moving with the throttle lever if not gently pull on it, it should be extended into the cap for the run position. grab it and gently pull to see if its free, it should move freely with light spring pressure.

Give her a pull!!!!! ! Mine wanted nothing to do with starting unless she was pulled for a good long while in a high gear. Cold hearted critter that she is it still takes a lil" starting fluid for her to fire off now...
GOOD LUCK!
