Just bought a 1490 -- runs great, but won"t drive. Hydraulics work (loader and 3-point) but tractor seems to be in nuetral. was told the owner was driving it up a set of ramps to load on a trailer when it quit going forward. Reverse doesn"t work either. Any ideas of where to start? New to case.

i would still check the pin in the gear shift rod as these can break.i have seen these break and cause this sort of problem.i'ts easy enough to check only four bolts to undo half inch or 13mm heads also remove gear lever in cab also four bolts.

From my knowledge and experience, I would check the main driven disc on the clutch, the trans power shift should drop back to low range but still drive if it loses pressure for any reason. The driven discs had a track record of rivet failure at the hub.

hi it could be the small pin in gear shift rod under the small r/h casting on top of the gearbox casting.
