Calcium or weight box?

I am replacing the tires and one rim on my '56 310 Utility w/front end loader. Tractor will be used for mowing and light landscaping. Can I get away with making a weight box that I can lift on the eagle hitch for counter-weight or should I pump in the salt. Really don't want to if I can get away with it concidering the new tires, tubes, and rim.
Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill How about using wind sheild washer fluid plus a wheel weight to make up the difference in the weight of calcium cloride? Won't destroy your new rims. Harry Case, Allis, Moline nut

You'll have to decide, but I can't imagine a loader tractor without the rear tires 80% full of fluid. CC is excellent ballast. You just have to "keep an eye open for leaks".

Look into Rim-guard if you decide on the Calcium. It is not cuastic to your rims and has just about the same weight/lb as the Ca. I don't know how it compares on price though.

I would use the old anti freeze instead of the calcium chloride. It won't damage the steel like the calcium chloride will if it leaks. That what I have in my 1212.

Personally, Bill, with the front end loader on the tractor, I would put in the calcium chloride. Someday you will not have that counterweight on the eagle hitch when you decide to make a quick lift of something and bad things will happen.
