Has anyone out there ever rebuilt a mag?I have replaced the points, condenser and rotor gear on the 4jm mag. I read in one of the tractor forums that when you rotate the impulse coupler it is supposed to give a snap. Mine just turns and im wondering if the impulse coupler is shot.I take it the impulse coupler is on the opposite end from the points. Thanks in advance.

Yes, the Magneto needs to 'snap' while turning it slowly, by hand . Otherwise the engine will not have any spark when turning over with starter. This is what the impulse coupling does.
