Well, according to the local weather stations. We should be receiving 6-12" of fresh snow by Sunday here in central MN. I can't wait and neither can my snowmobile! Been waiting all summer for some of this heavenly white stuff. Although, it does put a damper on getting anything done on the SC. probably will be put on the back burner until spring. It has been in the single digits in the mornings here for a while now. Wind chills around 5-15 below. Needless to say, it is too cold to be out in the garage with my hands on cast iron. If anyone doesn't want any snow and cold, send it on up to me! We haven't had a good winter in probably 6-8 years. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Hey DKase in reply to Ken Christopherson, 11-30-2007 05:33:01
if it gets -15 in South Dakota and you still take the SC out, does the transmission "scream" until it warms up a little bit? Our old 1940 SC with big chains for deep snow did that...make the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

My '44 SC did that - change the rear end oil to 85W140. The seals may weep a little but you will get better lube flow in cold weather. The original owner's manual says to change to 85W in cold weather and use 140W in hot weather, written prior to multi viscosity lubes and at a time when a lot of farms still had "hog oilers" so waste oil was not as much of an issue. BTW friends I have sold my SC. It was in need of an engine overhaul and I have a newer boat and now an old jet ski for "toys". I am still involved in farming on the side with my cousin and am still around some older IH tractors including the 656 my Grandpa bought new in 1966.

We had a few inches around Thanksgiving but it's long gone. Would love to have some snow to fit in with all the xmas decoration and lights I have put up. Got the xmas cows out, two tractors and manure spreader all lit up.Really lacking moisture so any kind is welomed.

Just West of Brookings SD. Come on over any time! Mid January when it is -15 would be just fine. If the weather is better we might just put you on an SC winding wire around the corn fields, or in a 970 blowing snow. Come in the summer and we will fit you with an 830 haying.

Right now I am stuck in down town Houston where it is 68-72 degrees (today). I would love to drive your DC's in the winter snow. I was born and raised in Michigan and have been in Houston for 26 years. I sure do miss the snow. Can't wait till I retire from this day job and move back up north.

Well I know over here on the W. Coast we could use a lot of H2O so we will take what ever can be dished up. If you don't want it then maybe you can ask the snow maker to avoid your property. Tell them they aren't welcome on your property and maybe they will just miss you. (but I wouldn't count on it - I love California for just this reason)

The "Tractor Talk" forum is already the "Non-Tractor Talk"forum. And the IH forum is becoming that way. Please, let's keep this a Case forum....

If you don't like the things being posted on the different forum's, you don't have to read any of them. Maybe you should start your own site, and then you could police everything that YOU don't seem to think is correct.

As for Ken I hope he get's enough snow to go playing on his snowmobile, have some fun that SC will be there when the snow is long gone.

Let it snow, Let it snow, LET IT SNOW!!!
