Looking for someone in Northeast Wisconsin who works on the old CASE powershifts? Does anyone have some information for me. My tractor has stopped moving, and I don"t know where to start. I don"t want to bring it to my local dealers, they are too expensive, and when I get stuff back, it never seems to be totally fixed.

If your tractor does not move and the powershift is quiet, no reverse surge, no overlap tug on the engine when shifting forward gears, most likely your torque limiters failed or your input shaft broke.

Where in northeast WI, I know of a place or two north of Oconto that might be able to handle it.

We are 15 miles straight east of Green Bay. Oconto isn't that far away.

Well, The last time we started it up, when we put the clutch in, it didn't make the noise it usually does. I think the noise it's suppose to make is the reverse gear kicking in?? But it doesn't do anything when you put it in gear now. The steering and hydraulic outlets work, so I think the pump is ok. I haven't had time to drop the hydraulic oil to see if there is any metal anywhere. We have been trying to get the fieldwork done before frost gets in too deep, and we finally finished this past weekend. We have the service manual, but don't have any of the pressure gauges to test the pressures out. Are there easy things I can try, to diagnose the problem? Again, When it stopped, we didn't screw around with it, because it is so complicated.

Since you have the Service Manual it is quite straight forward to follow the trouble shooting procedure. The obvious is to determine different noises and/or feel of controls.

Pressure checks are the key! Although it's better to have five 0-300 PSI gauges you really can get by with one. If you use all 5 it's easy and quicker to fill-in the blanks on the (spreadsheet like) page in the service manual which is provided for RPS diagnostics.

Post more explicate symptoms and perhaps advice can be offered.

You are right about reverse,Can you shift gears without grinding when engine is running,Does reverse shifter feel same as usual even though tractor wont move. Did you check at trans end of shifter to see if cable is moving valve. Also cast piece at cable end should be free on pivot. Others will have to help you if trouble is inside p shift.
