Will the 504 heads go on a 451 out of the 70 series tractors. Looking for info on building a 1030 puller, we can use the later blocks. Any advice from experienced builders. Can I make power with the 451 out of a 1270. I need some advice. I've pulled antiques for years and its time to move up.
Thanks

Like Roger said my advice would be use the 451. Depending on what you want to spend is how hot you can make it. I would get a pump done that will push 500cc or so and the injectors and lines to handell that fuel amount. Look into getting a modified H2 Holsett turbo and the cam reground by Vogel. Some minor port work to the heads doesnt hurt. If you was to do all this you will need to have the sleeves grooved for the fire rings inserts. This will make your head gaskets hold. Thad

What kind of power do you think we would be talking about with those mods. running in a 466 class 3000 rpm max 2.75 in on the turbo. You can change the turbo intake and out can't you??

thanks

Ive heard the hp tales from diffrent guys. Really there is no way of telling exactly for me. I have figured in my mind if you get the fuel, air and timing right and you can easily get a hp for every cubic inch. I have seen some that beat that i know by alot. All it takes is lots of $s. Thad

 70 series heads on a power cell 451? in reply to casepuller22, 11-26-2007 18:02:37
No! The 70 series direction injection heads have an EXTRA bolt that hold the heads to the block. The 1270 direct injection engine is the way to go. It will require a little sheet metal work since the 70 series engines have cross flow heads. Far greater horsepower potential from 70 series.

Heres what I got Rodger. I have a 1030 that just sits in our shed and never gets used. I have access to a 451 out of a 1270 or a 504 out of a 2670. Both these blocks would be legal in the club I would like to pull, but one class has a 466 limit and the other has a 650 cubic inch limit. I don't want to bore and stroke, so would I be better off going 451 for the 466 class, or running a 504 in the 650 class. I am leaning towards the 451, but don't know which to do. I can run P pump, and TO4 or 3lm turbo. What do you think?? I have seen you have some experience by reading back in the archives.

70 series 451 would be my choice in reply to casepuller22, 11-27-2007 17:55:47
It really depends on your budget. A stroker crank in a 504 can be expensive to get close to the 650 CID class limit. The 451 is right at the top of the 466 CID class limit already. There is little to do beyond the injection pump, bigger fuel injection lines, bigger injectors, and some turbo work. My son pulls a 1090 Case pro-stock very successfully. If you want more details, I'll pick his brain for you.

Im not sure if they will fit. I dont think the valves will clear the smaller bore size. I have a freind who could tell you and give you some advice. His cell # is 417 425 9823 just ask for Thad. We pull a 1030 with a 504 in it out of a 1370 and do pretty well. Good luck
