I got my uncle's VAC running today. Serial number VAC5655556. The hood we have for it is 3 inches too short, why would this be? Also what would it be worth? it has good tires, but cracked. Fair paint, eagle hitch, wide front, and runs well.

Value depends on location,as well as condition...needing tires, hood, grill,it's gonna be a mite difficult to get a lot out of it,unless you find someone wanting one for parts,or already has the parts your's needs...

Where are you located?

The only sheet metal that is the same between the early and the late tractors is the fenders. The access door on the late side panels moves to the rightside instead of the left also. The VA & VAI did not get the changes that a VAC got.

VAC's underwent a face lift at 5570000. You have an early hood and a late tractor. The early hood has a latch on top that you lift and the later hood has a latch in front that you pull. It probably is too narrow at the back too.

So that explains the hood. Were the grilles then different too. Ours bolts up but just doesnt't look quite right. This is the only one I have been around much and pretty much in the dark here.
