I"ve got a Marvel/Schebler carb that needs a kit and I don"t have a parts book. Can anyone tell me how many different carbs where used on the 830"s? My guess it"s a TSX-785, but I noticed the TSX-863 was also used on the 830"s. How can you tell them apart? Also, I don"t know the serial number is but it has the straight clutch petal, so it should be a later one.

the 830 carb shared the same bowl size with the 400 700 800 series tractors equipped with the MS carb, also some small 400-600 models used the same bowl size, we sell basic kits for the carbs which supply gaskets , throttle shaft seals , needle and seats etc, but no throttle shaft. They are packaged by Tisco and are good quality, any Tisco dealer in your area should be able to identify your carb. Is the tag missing, usually they stay on well, a round disc on top of the carb top above the float area held on by a single rivet in the center of the tag, if its crudded over you could miss it. In any case all the important gaskets and parts will interchange, the bowls are the same size.

Massey Ferguson 35 (and up) Tractor Assembly Notes - by Jack Wetmore. These assembly notes are for Massey Ferguson tractors with a two stage clutch and 6 speed, 8 speed and mutli-power transmissions. I see a lot of discussion forum messages regarding damaged clutches from improper assembly. The objective is to have the engine and transmission slide together safely and easily until the gap between the two halves is less than 1/4", BEFORE tightening any of the bolts holding the two together. Using bolts to draw the two halves together will damage the PTO
