Hello, I'm hoping someone here can help me find magneto parts for my 49 Case model S tractor. I've been filing these points for too long and need new ones. In my search I've found some that say they're for my tractor, but the pictures look nothing like mine. I did find a new set of plug wires, but still need distributor cap, rotor and points. I'm not opposed to the electronic ignition mod (if I can find the right one), but not crazy about the price. My tractor has been converted to a 12v neg ground system. Any help such as place to buy, part numbers, or retrofits would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tim

Let me know if you want to sell them. I've got my eye on an eBay mag right now. Doesn't show the points, but the rotor and the mag body look very nice. Thanks for the replies. Tim

I would try John Saeli (jsaeli@rochester.rr.com). I see used Case mags on Ebay occassionally. You might find a good cap on a used one. I guess you know that most IH distributors off the Farmall letter series tractors will work and also Delco distributors off AC tractors such as the WD45 will work. I see these on Ebay as well.

Wow! I"m totally amazed. I found a NOS set of these points on eBay and put a max bid of $80.51 on them. Figured they"d be mine for sure. Unfortunately this was a reserve auction and I didn"t even make the reserve price! There"s got to be a cheaper way around this. I see a couple of complete magnetos on eBay for around $50. I think I"ll just pick up one of those and hope the points are serviceable. Tim

Here's a link to as site that has the Case repair manuals, if you need them.

Used Case mags show up on Ebay quite often. I am suprised that they bring that high a price.

Well, I emailed the eBay guy and asked what his reserve was. He said $100. I countered with $80 again and surprisingly he agreed. They just showed up today and it looks like they are indeed brand new. Box is even in good shape. The funny thing is there"s a price of $2.60 on the box. Hahaha, that didn"t even cover shipping : ). At least I"ll have a running machine again soon. Thanks for the help. Tim
