I bought a CJ-7 Jeep about 80 miles from where I live and on the trip home I got it out on the highway for the first time in years and soon as it warmed up good it started doing the same thing in heavy traffic! For a few miles it looked like fireworks coming out my tailpipe. I stopped once to see what the deal was and decided it was just carbon and junk built up from idling around for years in town, and it cleared up eventually. Got some funny stares though!

If yopu ever saw an old 704 Uni with that V-6 GM 40l working at night, you'd know you had nothing to worry about.....they used to have a blue flame coming out of each exhaust about l8" long!! BTW, those sparks are there in the daylight, too, but you can't see them.

Hey there;
Some of the guys in some of the mower clubs,
have been talkling about carbon build.
They mention spraying water,into the intake to break it up and remove it(blow it out).
I used to do it myself it worked for me. Bob
God Bless

chances are its just carbon built up on the valves from idling around and when you work it hard it gets burned of and out the exhaust. i bought a 820 deere that the gentleman used to get the mail with and the first fall evening of plowing it looked like a steam engine, shouldnt have to much to worry about. gas engines (if tired may be more excessive

Gas, Diesel? Model? How do you normally use it? How were you using it when the sparks appear? Do they disappear in the air, or make it to the dry grass? Any fires?

Probably just carbon build up. I get the same thing out of 630 case diesel...It still runs good, but I still worry. After all the things 44 years old.
