What is the difference between the Case 800 and the Case 801B? Does anyone know? Did the 801B come standard with a three point? Just wondering because I am looking at an 801B.

Thanks,

Tony

Thanks for taking the time to answer Gene. I really appreciate the info. One more question, I am assuming when you say to make sure the transmission operates well, that means all the gears work and it shifts properly. If there is something else I need to look for please expound. Thanks.

801B is the diesel row crop version of the 800 series. Spark ignition versions were 810, 811 or 812. Deisel versions were 800, 801 and 802. They were made in standard, row crop and utility. The ID plate will have this number, but the decals will all read 800. B series were made in 1959 with the inline German Bosch fuel pump... Gene

Gene,
I'm sorry but i have to add/correct your post. I have a 1959 801B and it has an American Bosch PSB injection pump.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it very much. As far as the fuel pump and engine, if it had to be repaired, is it difficult to get parts for? I need a work tractor so I am looking for a tractor I can keep and maintain for many years.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony;
Not much maintenance required on the fuel system. The German Bosch has a drain plug to drain the oil and replace with new engine oil at oil changes. Fuel injectors are the same used on all Power Cell engines and same as many Allis Chalmers and Minneapolis Moline diesel engines. There are still after market engine parts available, but these engines are pretty dependable and long life. If you live in a cold climate, a block heater will be a good investment and warm the engine prior to starting. Try to avoid ether starting if at all possible.
Be sure the Case-O-Matic works properly and learn how to properly operate it. They are a dependable transmission if treated properly, but a costly repair... Gene

Hey Gene - any idea where to get a block heater? My 701 has a 3/8" plug right behind the oil filter that my manual says is for a block heater up to 5" long. Where in the heck can you find a block heater with that small of a diameter?

Tim
