730 CK Dilemma

I have been looking for a nice 830 CK Diesel for a baler tractor since the hydraulics on my 830 EH died. I need good hydraulic pressure and flow to run the bale accumulater. I ran across a nice running 730 CK dual range gas with a loader and excel cab that I could not pass up. Now the dilemma! Do I try to sell the loader and cab, and use the gasser, or try to trade the whole rig off for a 830 CK Diesel, or switch the engines between the 830 EH, and the 730 CK? The 730 could use about 2 days in the shop for serious TLC. The most expensive thing it needs is seat cushions. Will I be happy with the gasser running a 346 JD baler with a farmhand accumulater, or should I just do the work switching the engines and be done with it? I kinda hate to take 2 nice tractors and switch all the parts around. Originals are nicer to own. I would fix the hydraulic pump on the EH 830, but I know from experience that it takes lots of $$$ and they never last. What do you think? DK

I would use the gasser. I have a 730 CK gas and it's not bad on fuel at all. I can run my small square baler, 1 row corn picker, 7 foot haybine at low rpm's. I tested the fuel usage on the corn picker this fall. 2 gallons lasted 1 hour and fifty minutes!!

I would not like to put an older style engine into a newer tractor. I would keep it original.

What is the serial number on the 830 or the year? I am looking for a 1962 model case-o-matic with good sheetmetal. The best part is I have a good 830 CK clutch tractor to sell or trade. I might trade for a clutch EH tractor if if is good. E-mail me
