How many factory piston configerations were there? I have been trying to put together a DC with 4" aluminum pistons. One set lacked about 3/16" of coming to the top of the block. I purchased a sleeve set that not only came to the top, they were above .110" which wouldn't work with my rebuilt 5505A head. I rebuilt my '51 DC in '99 and thought those came up flush with the top of the block but I can't remember. I have a 5576A head that will work with the above deck pistons. How do these two combinations compare for HP and compression. I rember a family friend who had a '42 DC with high altitude pistons. Could the above deck pistons be a set of those? Has anyone successfully machined out a 5505A head so above deck pistons would work? DC Tom may have some experiance with this sort of stuff. Anyone who has played with this sort of stuff, I would be glad to hear from!
