Hey guys, Im a long time Case fan and don't know much about the D. What could a running D be worth and just how are they to be a hobby tractor, are they any good at tractor pulls, and whats the top speed. Hand clutch? If you guys would just kinda give me a briefing on the Model D I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Derek

Derek,
A D is the standard version of the DC series, that means it has 26" rear tires on a fixed hub and a fixed width front axle. It is low to the ground and not a good candidate for pulling. The drawbar is about twelve inches off the ground and a good puller needs to be at the upper limit of 18 or 20. I have seen only 1 D that pulled well and it had 18.4-30 rear tires and was modified for about 75 HP. As far as usefulness is concerned, it depends upon what you want to do with it. If you want to take it to parades and tractor shows it is fairly rare, especially if it is a very late model with rounded fenders. It probably does not have an Eagle hitch (a very few do)so 3 point implements are out. Don

Hi Derek , As a hobby , You could not find a more dependable , uniquly Ugly , And Yet BEAUTIFUL tractor . Here on this farm , Among the lineup , We work a 51 ,52 , and a 54 ,I refer to the DC as The OLD GENTLEMEN. Dad got the 51 back in 68 when I was 11 ,This tractor became My discing ,raking and manure hauler . Tricycle was easy to steer with a steering wheel knob, even backing wagons ,,Dad teased Me and said He thought I was born on the durn thing . Good feed grinding tractor , Some weeks making over 5 ton of hog feed per week ,from 71 til 94 , 16 years ago Dad sold the 51 to me for 4 times what he paid for it and 68. These days I run the nh 489 haybine and like planting with them . DC's are a well balanced Pulling tractor with A very good Governor , Easy on Gas , Even When I am pulling the H*)) out of them all day . The 51 has blessed Us with 4 trophy Wins in the 7000 lbs class .Horsepower is in the Upper 30's ,But There Is a Whole lot more there if You need It ,,, summed up .SIMPLE ,RUGGED ,TOUGH ,DEPENDABLE ,EFFECIENT,, And THEY ARE GOING UP in price ALL THE TIME, best wishes , Jim
