Just wondering what the correct year is of my D Case. The serial # is a 6 digit # that starts with 5083XX. It looks to be a 1950, but it also looks like the serial # research on the side of this YT site looks like it's a 1946. I would assume it's a 50 model. Anyone know for sure? Thanks-Bob

You guys were right. There was another 5 under the screw. That made the # 5508336 which would make it a 1951. Thanks for your help, it was appreciated. Bob

Bob,
I would bet good money that there is either a 4 or a 5 under the screw that holds your serial # plate on the dash. In that case it would be either a 1941 or 1951 model. If it has the original engine the number on the block flange should match the serial number plate on the dash. Don

First of all, the serial number should be 7 digits. Sometimes the first digit is hard to read due to the screw in the ID tag. Remember your serial number tag should match the block number stamped in the bell housing on the left side unless the engine has been changed. Once you find all seven numbers, subtract 4 from the first two to find year.

I think the correct way to read the # is to subtract 4 from the first 2 digits.Dan
