What's a "roundfendered" 730 diesel, with a "run it out of oil" engine worth? Rear rubber is pretty darned good.

(In north central ND.)

Dear Moron, If you could read you would see that i bought the 830 for $250.00 the oh kit was $850.00 for sealed power sleeves/pistons, fel-pro gaskets and clevite bearings. I was trying to save somebody some money but some know it all would just as soon squander theirs!

if you are paying $1500.00 for a oh kit you are getting screwed! I bought an 830 with a spun brg. a few years ago for $250 and went through the engine.

Bad idea, Bob! And you already know that....it won't make any money fixing it up to resell.

Yeah, you're right about that! in reply to bradley martin, 10-11-2007 03:25:07
Yeah, you're right about that!

It's been a while since I've owned a Case. (I've owned a VA, a 1370, and a 930), and I'm considering buying this one, fixing it up, and "playing" with it for a while before possibly reselling it. I was wondering what they have been selling for, to figure out how deep of a "pit" I would be digging for myself! I was thinking it would be a nice size to "play" with, plus it's a diesel.

Here in Mi it would be worth scrap price..3 to 3 1/2 ton at 65.00 a ton in running condition and usable 1500-2500 dollars, and a kit to overhaul it would be about 1500+macining the crank, reconditioning the rods and doing the valves, plus your time don't leave much profit....but if you plan on using it and are not worried about recouping all your money, they are a stout tractor....Shawn

What would would it be worth NOT seized. in "average" condition?

(As you may have guessed, I am trying to figure out how much $$$ I could lose buying it, and OH'ing the engine and reselling it sometime down the road.)

Case-o-matic or dry clutch? Call Don Livingston for a OH kit. WHat i"ve seen around here an OH kit probably 800-1200. crank work $150, cam work $50-100, Head work $100 each. having block cleaned and checked $100-150. injector pump $?? ect ect. It could be worth a bit more than scrap if the rear tires AND rims are good.
