I have an old 580ck backhoe, and the hoe isn't pulling strong enough for many of the jobs I need to do. I don't see any leaks. Any suggestions? Is it possible to install a stronger pump, or do you think maybe this one is worn, and needs to be rebuilt or replaced? Thanks.

Unless it is worn, the pump is not the controlling factor as far as pressure is concerned. The pressure relief in the loader control valve controls both hoe and loader pressure, a possible problem could be the power beyond o ring in the outlet fitting to the hoe if this is blown there will be a diference in bh pressure than loader pressure, they should be the same, get a pressure gage capable of 5000 lb install it in the 1/4 pipe plug on the outside elbow on the pipe from the pump, load the system on both the loader and the hoe, they should be the same, extremely low pressure with hot oil idling would indicate a bad pump if the pressure increass to normal at hi rpm, a common symptom of a bad pump would be to not lift off the ground idling but ok revved up, hope this helps

I had the same problem with my 530CK, the outriggers would not even pick the machine up.

I put a pressure gauge on the loader valve body and it was bypassing at 1500psi, the manual recommends 2700psi I think.

I adjusted the relief valve to 2700psi and it now acts as it should. I think over time the spring in the relief valve gets weak and needs to be adjusted.
