My manual still hasn't arrived, so I have a couple more questions. I checked the trans oil today- overfull and milky, so it's got water in it. I'm going to change it this weekend. How much does it hold, and what oil is best to use? Also, is there a filter, and where is it? Thanks again for youe help.

The 900B has a six speed chain drive trans. It is seperate from the Hyda."s. The TRANS. uses 80-90- hypoid(spelling) I even use it in my six speed 1966-930 and it calls for tch hyda oil. I"ve used it for 6000 hrs. with no trouble. so don"t tell me it won"t work. I use new case HY-TRAN in the Hydr."s. The drain for the trans is a big plug on the bottom side, the hyda is a smaller plug on the back of the hyda cover. The fills are side by side on the top, front tran back hyda.

On the 900B you have a 1/4 plug on the left side below the seat and when you fill it-fill until it runs out of this hole. The tranny drain is the same but on the right side and fill till it runs out. I use TSC hydraulic fluid in mine.

On my 600 on the left hand side right under the seat there is two pipe thread plugs the one on the foward side is for the trans/diff fill. still not sure were to check the level. the one to the back is for the hyd system and theres about a 1/4 in plug about level with the platform to check the level just oppist on the right there is a round cover with three bolts and the hyd filter is inside. Im a newbe myself when you get your manual it will answer a lot of questions. good luck

Sooo, I guess I find out how ignorant I am on this old 900. Trans and hydraulics are separate? Then where do I check and fill the hydraulic oil, and where is the filter? Thanks again for helping a Case newbie.

The only place to check is when the fluid runs out of the plug hole. The filter on mine is on the right side kind of below the brake peddles, stick out of side .

Don't forget to wash the hydraulic filter also, Should take 14 qts of ATF or a good grade of hydraulic oil.

My manual shows 14qts for the hyd system. I used a universal hyd fluid in my 600. And 63qts for the trans/diff housing. Ouch. Probley 80/90 weight for that.
