900 fuel filter bleed?

Changed the fuel filters on my 900 today (including the way-too-expensive front one) and finally got it bled and running again. What is the t-valve on top of the second filter used for, and where should it be set? It was backed out a little. It has an o-ring seal, and a seat on the end. I tightened it, and the tractor runs fine. Thanks for your help. Kevin

Bleeder by-pass.....opening it a quarter turn to bleed final filter (this allows fuel to flow directly to final filter ) Once final filter is filled, close valve. If you leave by-pass open , engine will lack power under load.

They call it a bleeder by-pass valve.
