No, my '44 SC is not factory stock. It has the upgrade to M&W button top 3 11/16" bore and 5617 head. These sleeves and pistons came from a parts tractor I bought or I would never had known they existed. I need to change the carburetor to the one used on '52-'54 models but need the air cleaner with the bigger intake opening to fit to the carb. My rear tires are Titan 11.2x38 and they do not slip. I have tried letting the air down to 8 lbs but I think I need to go lower. A stock SC will not compete with a lower geared H farmall. B JD's I have pulled against have not been a problem. I can handle WD Allis's but not '45's. Over 4000# I do not have the horses to be in win, place or show.

I do not know what the compression is, but I can tell you it cranks like a DC. It sounds like no SC I ever heard as a kid growing up. I have milled the head enough for a good seal. It is near standard. Next time out, I plan to use 118 octane racing fuel to see if there is a difference.
As to weight, I can get down to 3535#. But that is no help. You are stuck in the 4000# class if you want a chance of winning once in a while. My SC is a '44. I have removed the starter, generator, motor lift and housing, fenders, foot rests, and swinging draw bar. I have an S rear end cover and working PTO. Some rules require a working PTO. I put back the front end weight, kept the heavy front wheels, added a weight bracket for heavier weights, and plant my 200# butt in the seat and we have 4000# with a little over 2 1/2 gal. of gas in the tank. I have tried to use a mag but have switched to battery ignition to try to stop it from missing at the time it is pulling hard. If I can keep a strong fire in the hole, the power will come up too. I am still trying to improve my set up with little things. As soon as I get an air cleaner I am going to put on the late model carb.

Lol... some good info. Thanks. Whats the S rear end cover? Gets rid of the motor lift and housing? I think if the sc is really going to compete its going to have to be stroked. I've been told to look in to gringing the block for a bigger sleve like out of an allis. Just guys looking for me to spend a lot of money I think.

The rear end cover is part #4660A and provides for a PTO. You must get the PTO that goes with the cover. It is very short compared to the normal one. This cover eliminates the extra weight of the motor lift and the extra bulk needed to house it. Installing 4" Allis sleeves may be an option. You would then have the displacement of a WD, 4"x4".
I haven't thought about going that far. Some guy from Minnesota called me one day and said his SC with large over bore was putting out 47HP at 540 PTO RPM. Said he milled the head .125. I don't remember his name.

Yeah I pulled my sc at a friendly pull and threashing bee today. I"ve got 12.4 38s I got beat by a wc allic with 45 crank in 4000 lb. but got second. In 4500 and 5000 I got last. 3.5 in pistons just don"t cut it. 3 11/16" is as big as they made as far as I know. I"m researching what I can do to my head to up the compression. What kind of compression are you getting with the m&w"s?

How in the world do you get that sc to weigh 4000 pounds?
