Ok so this may be a stupid question but here goes anyway... I bought a 1958 801B from a guy and he told me that any standard garden tractor/riding mower key will work in the ignition. Is there any truth to that or does Case have keys specific to thier tractors?
Thanks,
Larry

PS I'm still looking for a set or 6 rail power adjust wheels for this beast...

I changed my 400 to take the double bevel rims that are alot cheaper and easier to find. You just change the rear hubs

Jim,
Can you tell me more about the dbl bevel rims? I'm kinda new at this old tractor stuff. I think that I know what you are talking about but maybe a pic or 2 would help me out a bunch and maybe save me some cash...
Thanks,
Larry

You should be able to get the Indak key at any hardware store or garden tractor dealer.

Uses "Indak" key....was commonly used by most manufacturers. At 1 time, an Indak key would start over 80% of tractors , construction and lawn equip"t in North America.

Ok that's great information. Any sugggestions on where to get one? I'd prefer to use the key because that's the way the tractor was built. If I have to I suppose that I could go to a toggle switch and a push button starter...

Try NAPA, they have a lot of stuff for old ag equipment. I got a complete ignition switch with key for my 630 from them.
