I have a 450 crawler with a model 32 hoe on the back. I need to rebuild the loader cylinders and the hoe cylinders. Everyon I can find on the internet wants me to send in the old seal to get a kit, or replacement seals. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!!!!! ! I know case made a zillian cylinders but you would think by now there would be a standard seal kit for these things. Anyone have a GOOD IDEA or some that really know there stuff about where to get these parts????? ????? ?? thanks.

You can measure bores (cylinder & piston), outside diameter (rod and turned end on rod), and groove width and depth.
Go to seal mfg. web sites and figure out seal that will work.
I will help if you want to go this way.

Thanks, I just went to a Hydraulic repair place and got some new seals, and it really is a mess. Case used interchangeable parts in nearly every Hyd cylinder they made. Now, they just take seals from a known set and mix them to fit whatever comes in the door. Even the people who deal with this stuff everyday need the old seals to assemble a complete set or "repair kit". There are some seals that are unique to CASE ONLY but thats not ALL of the seals in any one Hyd. cylinder. I will take the cylinders for the loader off and take each apart but since there are 2ea I will get 2 "kits" once I find out what is in each cylinder. I really has been an education in pure stupidity, on the part of CASE and could have been done a whole lot easier.....thanks for everyones input...Phil

Yes good site but they want the old seals to try and match them up. This is what I"m taking about. You shouldn"t need to take every cylinder apart, send someone the old parts, then wait for them to tell you "yes we have the parts" and this is what it will cost. I called Case and they say the same thing. "Bring in the old seals and we can find something that will match and get the job done". I think people who are in the business of selling seals could come up with a better way that would work without sending in the old parts.

Here's something else to ponder. Did Case manufacture the cylinders or did Case out source them or did they just buy standard cylinders and engineer them around the loaders?

Ask for Charlie Rule, he is not in parts dept anymore, but he has worked there for 25 or 30 years. He started as a mechanic out in the field, then moved into the shop, then moved to parts and parts manager, then moved to sales, I think, anyway… he has moved up the ladder with the company.

Tell him Shaun Jewell thought you might be able to help.
