I have a 530 std clutch dual range shuttle shift. When I put it in 4th gear the rear wheels lock up. Sometimes just the left other times both. Then sometimes it locks up after just a few feet other times 50 or 100 ft.
All other gears work fine and it doesnt seam to mater if it is in low or direct drive. took the top off the transmission and it looked ok in there as far as I could tell. (no broken off teeth I could see or pick up with a magnet)
Anybody have an idea what it could be. Any help would sure be appreciated.

probably the faster you go the worse or more apparent the back lash becomes.

I had the same problem on my 530CK, I assumed it had something to do with the brakes because if I reversed direction it would release immediatly.

Sometimes it would lock up every 2 feet sometimes it would go for ever.

Here is the WARNING... About a month ago the thing broke the ring and pinion gears.

I found a message here on ytmag that indicated if the ring and pinion gears were not setup correctly (backlash and gear mesh) it would cause the lock up problem and eventually break the gears. I'm now looking for a parts machine so I can fix mine..

mine will release right away without having to put it in reverse. going in reverse in 4th gear it seams to lock up even quicker
I thought it might be in the brakes or rear gearing except that it only does it in 4th gear.
