Only a rough estimate, but I'd say the value of that engine is relatively low (under $400). This is due to its great size and weight, which make it considerably less portable for taking to tractor and engine shows.

ande, most smaller engines go for big bucks. The rarer they are the more they get.The smaller engines are easier to handle therefore more likely to sell.Ive seen 3hpfm engines go for 1200 $ and ive seen 8and12 hp go for 200$ but you have to build a trailer around these babies just to get them around. ive had a few of them and love to start one up in the evening and sit back and drink a cold one as she chugs away. later Hoss

I have to say I enjoyed your note,I have several gas engines, and tractors also, been a farm equipment dealer most of my life, grew up with my father as a J.I.Case Dealer,so at 53 done some things. But one things for sure,I have enjoyed great honest people, and a old engine running and telling me that life is good, yes,I will have a "cold one" too and do like you.I think if we were closer we enjoy these things together as we had one. Thanks for talking about the good things, sometimes we forget those small, but wonderful times

When you say well preserved, do you mean kept-under-cover-and-free-from-damp, or kept-under-a-tarp dry, or ? Hard to place a value on it, sight unseen -- can you post a pic?

Also, if you need parts or more info go to www dot smokstak dot com to find lots of info and good folks who are into old engines (stationary, steam, hit-and-miss, etc.).

For some reason, though, that site and this one don't seem to get along too well...

Good luck, whatever you decide!
