Anyone,
I am asking for my brother-in-law so I may not have all the pertinent information so please bear with me. He has an automatic transmission on his case and he says when he goes down a hill it "pops out of gear". He can slow down and it reengages. Is this a normal function (I think not)or what are some posssible causes. i may need to check back with him for proper info. TIA

He does need more info on case-o-matic. He only uses this tractor sparingly. He has 11 other old tractors. Thanks for the input I will relay and see if it helps. Lee

Jerry is talking about the right hand handle. The left hand one is the throttle.

Wrong, on an 800 both the COM lever and the hand-throttle are on the left side of the steering wheel. The COM lever moves up-down, up is direct drive, down is torque-converter drive.
The hand throttle swings on axis with the steering wheel. Idle is full clockwise, Higher RPM's is counter-clockwise.

I think he needs to learn about case-o-matics. Tell him to pull the knob handle up pn the lever under the steering wheel, this puts tractor in direct drive.

He is not well versed, but is familiar with the tractor. Today he told me it pops out in direct drive and torque drive while going down a hill.
