I have a DC engine I am working on that has new bearings and 4" aluminum pistons that were in another engine block. Two pistons were scored and I replaced them with the same part number from Case-IH. I didn't notice until I had a couple in that they don't come up flush with the top of the block. They are about 3/16" below the top when the piston is at top dead center. Is this the way they all were? I don't remember if my '51 I rebuilt in '99 was this way when it was done.

How much loss in power am I going to have if I use the below deck pistons? It's not too late to change it to the other pistons. I still have not put the head on or the pan on. It is for a '53 with foot clutch. I am using the 5505A head.

Case made the pistons both ways, but they had different part numbers. Maybe the computer subs to them and should say to replace all four. I have new pistons that are below the deck. will be gone till monday.
