I have an 885n that has been a great tractor, but now I think needs some internal help. It cranks and runs, but the 3rd cylinder fouls out plug in @ 2 hours. Looking for some one who works on them around Augusta Georgia USA area, someone who has a source for a repair manual, or someone who may want to buy it. I have a Ford 3000 and don't really need two, but this has been a great tractor for @ 20 years.
I don't know what year it was made but the manual was printed in 1974.

Oh, I should have mentioned that something as "insignificant" as a failing plug wire can cause this kind of problem.

If N-11Y (or equivalent) is the normally recommended plug for you tractor, you can go as high as N-16Y (or equivalent), in that one cylinder only, to SAFELY remedy a fouling problem. "Anti-foulers" can and sometimes do cause problems more serious than the one you're trying to solve.

heres a temp fix...go to NAPA or any REAL parts house and ask for a foul point...take the spark plug with you and get the part that fits...the foul point keeps oil off the plug.

Hi Barry, I have a 1978 885 Diesel. It is one tough tractor. I've had my for about 15 years. The plug fowling out is oil leaking around a valve stem seal in the head, or piston rings are worn. You may need to rebuild the engine. I did my 8 years ago runs like new. My neighbor had a Ford 3000, it was nice, but it lacked the weight to make me a good pulling tractor. I hope it will work great for you. My tractor would pull a 16" 20 gang disk and not jump around, his Ford would jump out or the furrow. I do not know what the 885N weight. Call Case dealer Bruke tractor in Thompson,GA. 706-554-4448 and see if they could help with mechanic. I live in Aiken. Good luck.

I already had Case in Thompson work on it. I spent $1000.00 and got nothing in return. They said the carb was the problem. Had it rebuilt twice, pulled one off a worker and it did the same thing. WON'T be going back to them.

Thanks for the help, though.
