anybody know if dome pistons can be run with a propane head, once was told they would hit since have been told they will clear. I have 110 octane gas so thats not a problem.

Doug, I bought an engine that had the lp head and domed M&W,s. They used this tractor for several years until a rod started knocking. When I tore the engine down there were alot of nicks in the pistons. Detonation is my guess, higher octane gas would take care of that.

I wouldn't try a dome with that head. very small combustion chamber. use a 5505 or flat top piston.

place straight edge over top of block. If dome is above block don't try it

I have seen a DC CASE start the mechanical sled at a fast idle. Thats pretty cool when the m's would rev up the engine to full throttle and lift the front end to start out.
