B 414 hyd problem need help!

hello, first post.
I have never owned a tractor before and purchased a new home that came with a B 414 tractor, desiel, loader and rear large snowblower. Tractor is in great shape and starts and runs fine. Starts here with only a block heater in -25C temps. Problem is that when I use the snow blower and select a height for it the blower lifts up to postion, then it bumps up and down while at that height. I try to dampen the surging by reducing the flow rate but then it begins to drop. I know nothing about hydralics but am mechanicaly inclined. can't spell though.

You may have more luck getting your question answered on the Farmall/IH Discussion Board, but could your hydraulic oil have water/ice in it? Does it act up in the warm months?
