I recently bought a late model, 830 8 speed. The problem I am having is that the tractor does not stay in high range. It is the small lever on the dash. Can someone tell me what to look for?

The problem i have had with the thirty series Case Range drive is the Spaner nut on the counter shaft backs off.
this in turn lets the high speed range gear slide forward and the locking collar can not keep up with the travel of the gear.
Also have seen the bearings bad in that gear.

yes the tractor will have to be split right at the transmission to clutch housing to repair the problem.

You may have external problems bout i dout.
Check your linkage from range shifter to transmission top.It is ajustable.
