does anyone know if there is a paint kit (i.e. part numbers available) for restoring an original "old abe" cast iron statue that was used at the implement dealerships.

this statue stands close to 5 foot tall and has to weigh over 300 pounds.

also what year were these produced?

There is actually a Case service paper out with the proper colors to paint these. You have to find a Case parts person, smart enough to go into dealer portal under the part section and find it. I don't work at a dealership anymore so I can't access it, but it is there.

I think the best articles covering restoration were in the past issues of the Heritage Eagle and I believe the paint scheme was in there as well, there are fakes or recasts out there that you need to be aware of. Going from memory I believe the ones that say just CASE on the globe are from after sometime in 1929 and the ones that have the J.I. Case Threshing machine company on them are from before that period and should be the ones that are actually worth the most, also if you have the correct wood base that the statues stood on it would be worth considerably even more

Thank you for the info. i'm not familiar with the Heritage Eagle. Can i find that on the internet?
this one just says CASE on it. I was told it came out of a case dealership in st. louis. By the way it is rusted and all the old paint on it i would beleive it is an original. there is a casting number on the base on one of the 3 legs and some very deep rust pits on the pole that is pressed into the base.
Are there any markings or particuliar casting marks that would verify an original vs a reproduction?

I think I know where there is an actual Old Abe on Globe---it looks kind of rough--I have not up to it and observed closely.

What kind of money do you offer to purchase something this--I have no idea.

If the back side of the legs is open, it is an original.
