Need compact tractor - Should I part out my DC-3?

Hello all. I have a 1951 Case DC-3 that is in great running condition (something around 100 hours since an engine rebuild). My problem is that I need a smaller more compact tractor with a lower center of gravity and with a Cat I hitch. My tractor has been converted from an eagle hitch to a homemade 3 point hitch and it works as it was designed but the geometry is all off and I cant get good effective lifting distance with an implement. My property is all a steep hill and the narrow front end and high center of gravity are not my friend here. This tractor is fully functioning and looks great (more recent paint job - no rust, etc) But it seems that around my area (central ohio) Case tractors are not a big collectors item and my tractor is a little too big to be a practical home tractor. I can't even seem to get interest on anyone to come and look at it and I need to sell it in order to have enough money to buy a more compact tractor. I am to the point where I am considering parting it out because I think there is a good market for the used parts and I should be able to get enough to buy another smaller tractor. Am I making a bad decision? Anyone want to trade me for a smaller tractor? I can send you pictures. chris.hibbert (at) gmail.com

Thanks

I've been thinking about your delima. I live in WV and understand hillside tractor operating. I think the height of the center of gravity has more to do with overturning than the wide or narrow front. The DC has a pretty high center of gravity, although not as high as some similar tractors of that era. I have an SC with a homemade 3pt. that works fine with any 3 pt. hitch implements. The tractor would probably be worth more if it still had the originial Eagle Hitch. Does it have a hand or foot clutch? Have you thought about trying to sell it on Ebay with a required reserve amount?

This tractor has a hand clutch. I've considered listing it on ebay but just am not sure how it would do. I don't think I would take any less than $1800 for it - do you think it would sell for that much?

D C 4 fixed front axels are rather cheap for you tractor using the same front wheels with the rear wheels turned dish out and set wide it would be very hard to turn over you tractor with the wide front

Thanks but that doesn't solve my 3-point geometry woes.

I know what you mean as I have totaly re done my top link anchor point and made it heavy enough to haul large round bales. I found a hydrolic cylinder in place of the top link works very well as my dc has dual hyd.

If anyone would like to see pictures of this tractor, please email me - I can't seem to post a link to a folder on webshots.

Thanks
