I have an older model 580b (around 69 or 70) with an extendahoe on it. I haven't got a trailer and the closest shop that can work on it is 35 miles away.

I want to know how I can go about replacing the extendahoe seals on site. I've replaced some of the other seals but I'm confused on how to take the extendahoe apart. The seals are leaking bad.

It's usually a cracked fitting at the end of the tube, because the strap and support had broken away.

Cram the crowd end over a log and under the truck to keep it stationary as You pull the tractor away.

There's a pin that goes across the crowd and through the rod end in the extension housing. Take that pin out, run it out, and away it goes. You pull the tractor away.

Disconnect hoses

Pull the pin at the other end of cylinder and the whole thing slides out.

A very messy black crappy job.

There are rubbing buttons that will fall out.

To go back together, tie, tape, hose ends to a piece of rope, and that to a long wire. Feed wire up boom (crowd) grab that and pull wire rope and hoses through, while you slide it back togeher.
