was the "case orange" the same from say...the 630 to like the 970? the punks who painted my barn thought it would be funny to paint the rims on my case Red. since it was sitting next to my feed room on the blower. but i have some paint left over from when i painted my dad's 630. also what is the name for the white on it too, it's a white 970. i was thinking of painting thw whole thing now anyway. also, should the rim itself be silver and the canter part be orange on the front too?

Thanks for the info...I may try to go look at it. I can think of one reason not to buy it though....a four letter word....WIFE. Actually, she is real good about my purchases...if I need it she is cool with it, but it could easily be argued that I don't really need it....it would be nice to have though...

my mom always told my dad that he had to sell a tractor before he could buy another or she would go buy another classic car. worked on him. belive me they are a nice tractor to have around. looks like that one is a nice one. mine needs a few things here and there like tires, and now obviously paint. how much is the one you are looking at for? i got mine for $6000 but i had a fresh engine re-build. i will post a picture of mine
look for it in the tractor photos or i might post it here
later

They are asking $13,500 with a new Loader on it, and it has about 6600 hours. I don't have any idea what they are really worth...I just ran across it the other day and I liked the looks of it. It is located in Seymour, TX.

I had 4 tractors a year ago January. I started with a new Ursus 3514 (same as a old style Massey), then got the Case 1394 (was owned by the Air Force when new) and repainted it and installed an air conditioner, then I got a JD 4430 that had some serious hydraulic and 2 speed issues that I found out about after running it about 50 hours. While getting the 4430 fixed, the guy had a beautiful 4450 w/PS he was going through (had less than 1000 hours on an out of the crate engine). Really liked it, so I bought it with the agreement with my wife that I would sell the JD 4430 and the Ursus...now I am down to 2.

Since I have a full time job, and only do hay after work and on weekends, I can really get by nicely with the 2 I have. Keeping up with maintenance is much easier. But, it is a pain swapping the 4450 pto from 540 to 1000 everytime I switch from the swather to the round baler.

Just dreaming I guess...wife and the kids would really like a pool...all I would have to do is give the knod and a big hole would appear in my backyard within days....

Thanks for the info...

Tim

I also put pictures of my two tractors on the Tractor Photos...the Case 1394 and JD 4450.

I believe the 30 series still used Flambeau, and they changed to Power Red with the 70 series. There would only be a couple of shades of difference. The white is Case Power White.

There is a picture of a 970 at the following address: >Link

It>Link appears that the center is orange and the rim is silver...looks like it should to me.

I have a Case 1394 and like it. I have been thinking about going to look at the 970 in the picture...maybe put in front of my round baler and leave it there. Since you use a 970 on a regular basis...what are their strong/weak points/likes/dislikes. The one pictured has about 6600 hrs and is a powershift.

Thanks,
Tim

p.s. Sorry, did not mean to hijack your post...

the best thing about the tractor is the maneuverability, the power shift is nice but for some reason they shift hard if your not idling along, always make sure the hydralic resivor is alway full otherwise you can't steer very good when you are using the brakes. they are very strong tractors. i run the blower with mine all the time and never loose power. one key thing when driving it on the road is to idle it down and press the brakes a little to prevent the shift-shock when shifting down. i can't think of any reason why you shouldn't go buy that 970 powershift. i feel it's the best tractor i have
