I have been looking for my engine serial number and can only come up with VT164A. I found this on the right rear of the engine. Is this just the casting # I have looked all ofer the engine with no luck. I broke my exhaust elbow and need to get the correct replacement part.

Thanks,

VT164A is a torque tube casting nr. '48 engine serial nr is stamped into the block above the starter, just below the cylinder head gasket, small characters, probably starting with VAB or VAC + 124 + 5 digits.

Early VAC had a one piece cast exhaust & intake manifold p/n VT128 (A30903), elbow is p/n VT200 (A28811). Should be your '48 if original engine.

Later VAC had 2 piece manifold, exhaust and intake manifolds bolted together, exhaust manifold p/n is VT330 (A28854), elbow is p/n VT286 (A28841).

Early/later manifold change before/after engine serial nr A4700000, ballpark 1949.

The engine serial number should be stamped at the top of the block on the right side of the tractor outside of the #1 cyclinder. You should not need this number in order to get the elbow that you need. There are several people selling new cast exhaust elbows. You might try Don Livingston or John Salei. I believe they both post on here from time to time. The number that you found is the casting number for the block.

Hello, I saw your were talking about VACs.
I have a 1954 VA that is overhauled, has new rubber all around and a decent paint job. I was having shifting problems, so I changed the rear end over to a VAC. The original rear end will go with it for parts. I have to downsize and I wonder what you think I should ask for it.
