I have a CASE SC...could use a little mere cranking power. been restored, sits a lot, and you know how it is....have to keep the battery charged up.
If I were to put in an 8 volt, do I have to change anything else?
However, I was in the local farm store and notice that the 8 volt has less CCA than the six.
Hmmmmm mm. or is it that there is more "crank" at the very beginning?

Size #2 cables are the minimum size for 6 volt systems. Size #1 will give a little better performance, but they are pretty stiff to work with. Those Optima batteries are nice, but the cheapest price that I have been able to find for a 6 volt one is $125.

If you will get heavy 2 00 gauge cables your 6 volt will start the tractor fine.

6 volts will do just fine. Make sure you have proper size wires and clean connections and a good ground.

You'll need to get your generator up to 9.8 volts or it will not keep the 8 volt charged up. I would go with one of the new gel optima 6 volts. They crank nicer than lead-acid and last longer.

Yeah, it doesn't have to put out as much amps because it's got more Volts. Watts = Volts*Amps.
