Need to remove the steering shaft from a Case Mdl. 211-B in order to repair one of the Universal joints. It looks to me like the entire shaft, from the steering wheel down, will have to come out. Am I right or wrong about this (I really hope I'm wrong)? All advice appreciated. Thanks.

Charles

You are right . The whole thing has to come out. Take it loose from the front and remove the middle brace. Take the steering wheel off and then completely loosen up the dash board to where it will move around freely. Then the shaft will come out forwards. It is not as big of a deal as it looks like.

Does the dash itself need to "move around freely" or is it the shaft you're referring to? I've already disconnected from the front, unbolted the centre brace, and removed the battery tray. It looks like the battery tray mounting will have to come out, and shaft bearings under the dash.

I Think the dash will have to move around if you ever get that thing out. It did on my 430 before the shaft would slide forward.
