I just bought a 580b extendahoe and need info on how to repair and replace the ring and pinion set. I have purchased the new parts but I need the service info because I found out that there needs to be lash in the new setup, and I am unsure how to obtain the proper amount. Can anyone help with some lit? Thanks.

Get a repair manual at a farm store in reply to harryj, 05-29-2007 10:30:57
Since the rearend in a 580B is the same as 430-530 Case agricultural tractors, you can get a 430, 530, 630 tractor repair manual at most farm stores. Follow its instructions. The back lash between the pinion shaft and ring gear is .008 of an inch as measured with a dial indicator. That dimension is achieved by adding or removing shims between the left and right side-gear bearing carriers.
