Hi, I own a 1960s case 530 tractor/backhoe. It has power steering but the tie rod fell off and fluid came out of the cylinder by the drivers front tire. I ask the case dealer what kind of fluid to ues, Hydralic or power steering and they didnt know but said they thought it was hydralic. I filled the resavoir but nothing. Is Hydrahic fluid correct? and is there some way top bleed the system? Any help would be appreciated.

Either fluid will work fine, At that time, Case specified TCH or Type A ATF as being interchangeable.

Thanks, I am using hydralic fluid, and will try using the bucket to lift the tires off the ground and turn all the way back and forth. Hope that works, thanks again.

Gary, I use Hyd Fluid.

Book says to spin manual steering wheel rapidly but if this does not open the "Spool" use the Bucket to Raise the Front End off the Ground, and rapidly by Hand, deflect front wheels right & Left. This Should activate the spool valve

Check Pump level & Fill. Then repeat the steering
wheel spinning / manually moving the wheels Etc
until all the Air is out of the system

Hope This Helps,
