Most of you guys know that we have a small plant in Cambodia where our older orphan boys who finish mechanical trade school restore and re-sell old Case`tractors. We've found the 930, any series, to be very reliable and popular. They really like the six`speed Comfort King's once we equip them with a three point hitch. I can find few weak points, except that the brakes don't last too long, but we make them here, so no problem. Question: "Which Case do you think was the most reliable?"

we love our cc's and dc's, got granddad's cc that he bought new in spring of 37. it runs great now. as for brakes, my dad was former service rep for case and he said case tractors were built to pull, not stop.

I liked the old 500 and the 930 the best. Both are very tough old beasts.

One down fall on the 930 was if used for a power unit using pto. Top bearing in transmision gets oil from slinger so if using pto stationary it will take out this bearing. Kindawished I would of kept one of mine, great power.

Heck, all Case tractors built prior to 1960 were extremely reliable assuming you don't need or want brakes.

But since you ask, this is my impartial judgment of the three best and most reliable in order:

1. 300 series

2. 300 series

3. 300 series

Sorry to be so wishy-washy.....

Joe

Well Ted I will chime in here for a 930 CK. I have ran mine for around 8 yrs now. It was rebuilt by a old guy 4 yrs before I got it. If any tractor can run like that one was put back together it has to be one H--- of a tractor. It makes me wonder what the guy was thinking when he did it. It had 2 main caps never torqued down. They just about fell into the oil pan. It lost oil pressure is how we found it. Just a week ago I blew 2 head gaskets. Just compression leaks out under the power cells. His idea of gasket sealer. Yeap grey paint. No o rings in the water passages. It leaked water at first I think. So in goes the block sealer. The valves was set at about I would say .050 to .060. So if anything can survive being used on a farm for that long like that its a great machine. It would out pull our 1030 before I think now It would just drag a 10 around.

Ted:
I think all of the chain drive tractors were extremely reliable; I would be hard pressed to single out any one model.

I just went out to the tractor shed West of town and started the 1930 C and the 1939 DC4 and both started on the 4th pull on the crank after sitting since last August. I didn't even have to put new gas in either one. Now I call that reliability.

I would agree with the reply regarding the chain drive models. The LA has always rated high in my
opinion.

Yep, the chain drives - like the LA. Needed a valve job once in a while and they ran forever.

I forgot to mention that part of the reason is that most of the things that go wrong on the newer ones, weren't even on the old ones.
