Hi, I just bought a 1960 case 540C. The tractor has low clutch pressure, it reads halfway between 0 and the green zone. The gauge seems to be working correctly because the tractor operates normally in low range, 1st gear. If you put it in high range, in high gear, it will barely make an attempt but will not move.
Here is what I have done so far.
Changed filter and tranny fluid
Checked tranny lines in and out of the radiator for clogs
This had no effect Just pulled tractor apart to check for a relief valve stuck open, it was not stuck open.
Should I rebuild the tranny pump next or will this not have any impact?? I am thinking that if I have to rebuild the tranny anyway, I might just as well put it back together and use it until it dies.
Your help and experience would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff
