Hello Everyone: I stopped by my brothers place and he had an old Case Lawn Tractor. I thought it look interesting enough to ask if anyone could give me some general information to pass on back to him. It looked like an aircooled engine. Maybe truck size rear tires (9.00X20?) It had a lable saying "Fluid drive." Maybe 48 inch cut. Any idea how old? Any collector value? Or if only big farm tractors are talked about here, where should I post for general info? Thanks very much..... .. agpilot

The Case 444 was built around 1973-75, It has a 14 horse Kohler, hydrostatic drive. They were pretty good for the day. The implement drive clutch is mechanical and gives problems.

Air Flow in Case Kohler engine.?? in reply to AllanC, 05-09-2007 20:56:16
Hello Allan (or anyone with info) My brother is going to look for blockage in the air flow in that Case 444 air-cooled Kohler engine. Any helpful tips I could pass along to him. He can use any help anyone might have since he doesn't repair anything very often. Thanks agpilot

I googled older Kohler 14 HP engines and found the air flow info. Thanks again Allan...

Allan: A big Thank-You for the information. That Kohler engine heats up too much. Gotta be loss of air flow or just too dirty where it needs to transfer heat from the engine. It sure looks more like a "Tractor" should with large diameter rear tires... Now if he could find some tires that had lugs like a full size tractor tire... (ignore leaving tire marks on the grass)...but He'll most likely sell because he doesn't get into turning wrenches... and I've got too many small and big tractors. agpilot
