good evening gentlemen. i mentioned this 43 sc afew weeks ago. you folks gave me some info and told me what year it was. i got it this weekend. i need to get a manual.i don't understand the oil pan petcocks. how can oil come out the upper one and not the lower. the old girl is locked up. clear water came out the lower petcock.i presume it came in the holey muffler.there is antifreeze in the radiator.the machine seems to be complete. it has an add on hydrualic pump on the govenor housing with reservoir , 2way cylinder, and a rockshaft bolted to the drawbar for a makeshift 3point hitch. did the rockshaft used to be connected to the motor lift? what is the best thing to use to soak her pistons loose? is there no block drian for water? i know this is a lot of questions. any help i can get i will be most greatful. have a great week.

Oil is lighter than water, I believe your oil pan has a lot of water in it. Your transmission and rear end probably also have water in them. Search the article archives on this web site, there are some good articles on freeing stuck engines. One guy recommends on part automatic transmission fluid, one part kerosene, and one part Marvel Mystery oil. Make sure the valves are free before you try to turn it over or you will bend the push rods. I believe that there is a drain on the lower radiatior hose casting? Yes, the rock shaft was connected to the motor lift which runs off the PTO.

Oil is supposed to come out the lower petcock and you fill with oil until it just starts to come out of the top petcock!!

Regarding the oil out the top petcock and water out the lower, the pan's probably got 5+ quarts of water in it and a quart or less of oil. I expect you'll have the pan off before long. The oil pump may be rusted. Everyone's got a different penetrating oil suggestion for freeing up pistons. I think automatic trans fluid or kerosine will probably be as good as anything. Make sure to blow all water out of the cylinders if there's any in there, before adding penetrating oil. Be patient soaking the cylinders. I've never been successful freeing them up this way. Mine come out with an 8 lb. sledge and a block of wood. A picture of the "three point hitch" would sure answer a lot of questions.
